As the Northwestern University Class of 2017 assembled on Deering Meadow this morning after their March through the Arch, the BCM at Northwestern was there, cheering along, and also praying silently for all 2,025 new students. Our prayer was simple. It was basically a response to one verse in the Bible. In Luke 10:2, Jesus says: “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” And so our prayer was this: “God, you are the Lord of the harvest, and Jesus told us to pray earnestly to you to send out laborers into your harvest. So we earnestly ask you to send student laborers to share your gospel with every Northwestern University student, faculty member and staff person this year. And in the years to come, send out many more gospel laborers from Northwestern University into your spiritual harvest among all the nations of the earth. In Jesus’ name we believe and pray, Amen.”
